School Council

This term the School Council are looking at ways to improve both playgrounds. The children have developed some plans and are now working with a number of companies to try and develop them.
In Key Stage 1 playground they want to extend this. There is a piece of grass by the side of the carpark which we could use to make the playground much bigger. Before we can do this we need to extend the fence around the area. This should be done very shortly.
Public Speaking Competition

Twelve children from school took part in a local 'Public Speaking Competition. The speech by the three winners was about smoking.
Eco-Committee

The Eco-Committee meet every Wednesday lunch time in the ICT room. Everyone is welcome to come along. They have already been awarded a silver Eco-Award for their work around school. We have Eco-Monitors who save energy by turning off lights and anything else which uses electricity.
They have increased the amount of waste we recycle and the compost bins around school are coming along very well. The Foundation classes will be using this compost in their garden shortly.
Their next big project is the school pond. There was a competition over the holiday to design a pond for Elm Park. We had some fantastic entries. We are hoping to start work on this very shortly. Hopefully lots of parents will be able to help us!
